Hi guys (and galls
),
Though since long I have found these forums to be a great source for info, this is my first actual post here. I am hoping you guys can give me some advice concerning my G&L Legacy Special.
I've had it for close to twenty years now and have always appreciated the workmanship and versatility of the instrument, however lately I am looking for a more traditional strat sound with bells and whistles one would expect. Although the special can approach a strat sound reasonably well, it's not the real thing (as can be expected from a blade pickup).
Long story short, I'm considering swapping my neck and possibly middle pickup for a regular alcino single coil, possibly for fender v mod or something else (I could use some suggestions there as well). The thing I'm wondering is whether with a swamp ash body, and a rosewood neck, the tone might still be too dark for a 'normal' strat tone with the rich sound and chime I so love.
Or am I better off selling my G&L and getting a regular stratocaster altogether.
Your input is greatly appreciated!
