swapping a mag

i am swapping a mag into 1 of my duncans but the replacement mag is not wide enough to meet both sides of the pole pieces in my humbucker.

the only way i will be able to get the pole pieces to touch is if i insert a metal sheet between the mag and pole pieces .

will this work

The metal will act as a magnetic shield. That may not be the effect you want. Then again, it could give you that "asymmetrical" tone thang. :laugh2:

Its easy enough to undo, try it. You may discover a whole new "tone".

i think dimarz.. use these metal strips in there humbuckers, this causes more inductance/ loss of some frequencies???????????
