Well, I believe they are glued in. I had to take off the base plate the pry the magnet out and it's got a lot of plasticy goop around it that looks like hot glue. I put the A5 in and it smoothed it out a bit and made it sound a bit more like my JB. I'm going to order a A2 next and see what that sounds like. I'm kind of going for that early VH tone from the club days. There are lots of photos floating around that show a SD in a bunch of guitars ... even the frankenstrat at one point. I think he used an A2 and I can see how it would warm up the tone some more. It's pretty sizzly as is. Not sure if I really like it or not.
