Swapping necks on a Tele and Strat?

Both my Tele and Strat are MIA models, 4 bolt neck with the micro-tilt. The neck on the Tele is all maple and the Strats neck is maple with a rosewood top. Offhand it would seem that the necks could be easily (and safely) interchangable, but you never know. Does anyone know for a fact if they can be changed?

The only reason why I'd like to try this is because I've been toying with the idea of getting a Strat with an all maple neck in a few months. I thought if I could safely change the necks I could then take my sweet time to get a good, general idea if I really do like an all maple neck on a Strat. (Wouldn't cost me anything either). Last thing I want to do is to buy another guitar and go, "hmm...not what I thought."

Thanks.

The neck pockets don't fit one another perfectly.

You can use the strat neck with the tele body (the two corners of the neck pocket would not be fully occupied), but not the reverse. You have to shave/round the corners of the neck pocket of the tele neck.

Why don't you look into USA CG necks. 200 dollars and 20 for finishing (yourself) it with a tung oil that you can get from HomeDepot would work for you, I think. If you don't like it, you can always sell it here pretty fast.

Thanks, Dr. Barlo. GC necks, eh? Never heard of them. I'll have to look them up. Thanks again.
