Synth epic demo -- 70 tracks of synths, 20-minutes long

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
Putting my time off from work to good use -- after 3 days, I've sketched out the structure for my next release! :)

This is the basic platform: synth tracks, drum loops, scratch bass guitar. No guitar tracks yet. There are about 70 tracks of synths here, it's pretty dense in some places. It's also very trippy -- you have been warned! :)

UPDATED LINK FOR VERSION W GUITARS

Synths used: Roland JV-1080 w Orchestral I & II expansion cards; E-Mu Classic Keys; Dave Smith MOPHO
Drum loops: Logic Drummer
Bass: DI'd through SansAmp Bass Driver
Guitar: Strat DI w Logic amp sims

EDIT: Made a minor tweak to one section.

I'm always a sucker for epic progressive-styled synth musings... thumbs up!

Started wring the guitar parts for this one. I now feel 80s era Alex Lifeson's pain! :)
It's really hard to find guitar parts that will fit in all this without a) getting lost or b) being dumbed down. The alternative is to use a lot of altered/complex chord shapes, which is what I wanted to challenge myself with in the first place. (Mission accomplished lol)

To make it even more challenging and to break out of auto pilot, I tuned my guitar to open Gm (D A D G Bb D). It's off just enough to make my usual chord inversions not work.

So far, so good, though. I have the first 3 parts written and the vocal line for part 2 pretty much sussed out.

For the curious, the chord progression for the backing synths/orchestration is: Bb - Bb11 - Cm - Am7b5 - Bb - Dm11 - Eb - EbSus4 - Gm - GmSus4 - FSus4 - Bb11. That's a spicy meatball!

Having never touched a synth in my life & knowing pretty much zilch about them, I can't really gauge what went into that..but it sounds pretty lush/cool. I'd love to hear some guitar over that though..then I'm back in familiar territory again :lmao:

Here ya go, just keep in mind that this is all demo tracks just to get it down.

Guitars fit perfect & sound great! ..that opening synth chord always makes me think for a sec that this will follow though :lmao:
