talkboxes...

So i'm really interested in talkboxes. Supposedly traditional ones are risky to set up? the Rocktron banshee is supposed to be safe, but it runs the sound to its own speaker which can either be miced or have its own expansion speaker. am i better off dedicating a whole speaker to the rocktron or should i try a more traditional approach?

any models that i should check out?

Re: talkboxes...

I've got the Heil that I use with my Hot Rod Deluxe and it's a pain to set up sometimes, but I like it. I did blow the diaphram inside of it only running at bedroom levals, but I think I just got a dud. Dunlop fixed it for free even though it was past the warrenty period and I haven't had any trouble since. But you can not exced more than 100 watts peak into it.

Re: talkboxes...

I have a danelectro Free Speech in-line talkbox. It is extremely easy to set up, and cheap, but that is its only good points. It is extremely lo-fi, has its own tone that cuts through the tone of your amp, and is so low output that it significantly cuts the volume going to my amp even with its volume knob maxed, dont buy it unless you cant afford better or just want to dabble cheaply without much setup hassle.
