Tapped SSL-6 Question....

I have done some digging but did not find this one.....

I am going to order a set of SSL2/SSL2/SSL6 (tapped) pickups for one of my Strats.

Has anyone wired a tapped pickup to a potentiometer? I am thinking (thanks to all of you gear freaks ) about wiring up a master volume, master tone and a pot to blend in from 0-100% of the tapped half of the pickup on my Strat giving varying amounts of extra thickness to leads on the lead pickup.

Thoughts? Is this even possible? Reasonable?

I'll give you the short answer. I've done it, and eliminated it. It wasn't worth doing. I'll give you the long answer if you'ld like.

This is, if I understand you correctly, the Spin-A-Split mod used on a tapped single coil. I've tried it with a tapped Quarter Pounder and while it technically worked, it sounded really weird rolled down to just the tap (0 on the knob). Didn't sound anything at all like the tap when using a plain old switch.

So, in other words, I'm with Artie...
