Re: TB-16 fans: You there?
^^ Cool - staggered QP in the middle, and what's in the neck?
I was gonna make a thread for mine but this is better. I'm testing my home brewed one in this guitar - alder body and ebony board.
The stock pu is a ceramic triple mag thing; I've used ceramic pups for a long time so it took me a while to get used to the response of an A5 pu in the bridge. Anyway, it's a pretty nice pup - lower in output than stock, more high end, and tighter, less prominent bass. One thing that really impressed me was the clean sound - ceramic pups tend to sound cold and harsh in the bridge, so I found myself really liking this. Playing close to the fingerboard yields a warmer, plunkier tone - it's quite sensitive to where you play.
I also tested it in my Roadstar, which has a baswood body and rosewood board. There it was great too - superb lead tone and warmth, but ultimately I preferred the stock pu for its hard punishing qualities.
I'm still yet to see if I'll keep in the Proline, as I've gotten so used to the stock pu, but the 59/C is very nice indeed. If I take it out, I'll keep it for something in the future. I just got some SSL2s and want to see how it works with them.
