TB-4 vs SJBJ-1

I understand that both are the same pickup with the same coil winding same A5 magnet, but how similar they sound? I have a HSS guitar and I got the crazy idea of turning it into a (HS)SS
If I replace my TB-4 humbucker for a SJBJ-1 and an SSL-5 in the same slot, this SJBJ-1 will sound exacly like my TB-4???

Re: TB-4 vs SJBJ-1

The JB Jr samples a smaller area of the string, and will not sound the same as the full size JB. It does have a similar voicing, though.

Are you trying to get a bridge single coil sound? Why not just wire up a coil split or a series/parallel switch for your JB?

the jb jr wont sound exactly the same. it isnt the same winding, doesnt have an alnico 5 magnet and like d said, hears a smaller section of string.

it sounds fairly similar but not the same

I recently bought a kit of 3 Fender SCN pickups, My initial idea was to place the middle pickup and neck in my HSS guitar and sell the bridge pickup
I really love my JB humbucker, and recently discovered too that I love the sound of the Outside-coilsplit of my JB (not the inside-coil)

but I thought that perhaps I could have an extra versatility on my guitar if I could have both the JB jr-split and the bridge SCN

to be more graphic, here is a pic of my idea :)
