TB-4 w/ SSL-3 wiring questions

Hi, I have a SD (strat type) body coming..rear routing

It will have a SD TB-4 in the bridge and SD SSL-3 in the neck.. no middle.

I am trying to figure out my wiring options...

Was thinking 1 Vol and a Tone per pup.

Would like to split the TB-4.. was thinking with a push/push pot on the Bridge Tone?

Was thinking a 3 way blade switch?

1. Bridge 2. Bridge and Neck 3. Neck
with the push/push option engaged same but with the Hum split on position 1 and 2... Is this a option?

Should I use 250k or 500k on one or all 3 pots?

I don't like to bright of a bridge.. but not sure what I should use?

Do I add a .022 or .047 cap anywhere in the wiring? if so where? Is there a wiring diagram for this set up somewhere? I have looked and saw a couple that where close but not the same.

Looks like its hard to find a long shaft push/push 250k pot.. I guess I can drill out some material if needed or would a 500k push/push be ok on the bridge? I prefer push/push over the push/pull type if possible.

Im new here.. so Hi to everyone!
Thanks for your help!

welcome to the forum!

that can be done and isnt overly complicated. for pot values, its preference but if it was me with what you described, id use a 500k volume, 500 neck tone, 250k bridge tone. i like to use .022 caps rather than .047. i havent seen long shaft push/push pots but they might be out there. this is the majority of what you need, but missing the second tone control

Thanks for the input Jeremy!

A 500k on the single coil neck, could you explain why when you have a chance.

Just heard from the builder that the short shaft will work fine.

Thanks for the diagram! Im still a little lost.. I mean I can follow that diagram and solder everyting but I dont understand what is exactly happening so its hard for me to know what wires go where when adding the other tone pot and cap?

Thanks again!

Re: TB-4 w/ SSL-3 wiring questions

the ssl3 in the neck sounds too dark to me with 250k pots so id want 500k for volume and tone, but you dont want your bridge pup too bright so id use a 250k tone for that which will give you a little less high end than a 500k. if you wanted less high end all around, you could use a 250k volume control as well

as far as the schematic, the red/white wires are going to the switch for coil splitting. the tone controls will need to be wired differently than in the diagram. you would not connect the wire from the volume control to the tone control. you could run a wire from the switch connection for the black wire from the bucker to that the tab on the tone control that has the wire from the volume control in the diagram and do the same for the switch connection for the white wire from the single coil for the neck tone. sorry i dont have a way to draw easily

I think I understand .. thanks for your time Jeremy! very helpful!

Is this how the wiring would be? Wasnt sure on the grounds?

Re: TB-4 w/ SSL-3 wiring questions

I found this diagram.. Looks like it would get rid of the need for a push/push pot?
Has the wiring in series which I would like.

Im not exactly sure which wires represent the color codes of the SD pups I have?

Also dont understand the bottom tone only connected to grnd?

any input anyone?

Re: TB-4 w/ SSL-3 wiring questions

That diagram requires you to buy a Schaller product called "Mega-switch M". I don't know if you realised already. https://schaller.info/en/megaswitch-m

The second tone control isn't used in your diagram. I might be able to help with a diagram, but I'd need to know which blade switch you would like to use. Do you prefer to use a 3-way or 5-way switch?
