TB-6 & PA-TB2b sound the same?

deadlock

I assumed the Distortion trembucker was the TB-6, a wider version of the SH-6. But Then I saw that there is also the Parellel Axis Distortion. The specs seem to be the same, do they sound they same?

The specs are actually quite different as is the tone. The Parallel Axis TB is quite a bit hotter and darker sounding.

Re: TB-6 & PA-TB2b sound the same?

I'm confused...How is it dark when the tone chart shows it has most Highs, medium Mids and less bass? The SH-6 seems to have almost the same tone chart on the specs page, both are ceramic and have similar output.

What is the advantage of 24 Parallel Axis poles instead of 12 standard poles?

Re: TB-6 & PA-TB2b sound the same?

the 24 vs 12 gives a more balanced magnetic field.
the patb2 has more output and a thicker tone than the tb6. listen to the sound samples to hear the difference

Re: TB-6 & PA-TB2b sound the same?

I also agree that the PATB-2 is darker and hotter, having used both in the same axe. But the tone is also "thicker" by the same right, so depending on what you´re looking for..... ;)

I used to have an SH-6 and i thought it was a little too bright. How much darker is the Axis distortion than the regular? Like a JB is not as bright as the SH-6, but it's far from being a dark pickup.

Is the PA-TB2b Distortion still articulate like the Duncan Distortion?
