TC Electronic Toneprint

The new TC Electronic pedals look interesting IMO. I was wondering if anyone had tried them. Are they good effects, and cost effective ? Is the Toneprint thing a feature worth exploiting ?

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

i have the flashback and love it, i use the 2290, dynamic, and analog settings mainly. i fancy the stock tone print, but im too lazy to hook up the pedal to the computer. I'm no "pinky up" mf when it comes to delays really, nor do i use it all that much, but it tackles my needs and alot more. Totally cost effective with the amount of options.

I don't really get the Toneprint thing. Even after looking at TC Electronic's website. Can someone explain it to me? Maybe using small words?

Toneprint pedals have a special feature. Through your computer, you can upload presets into the pedal. These presets are made by professional players. It's supposed to be cool, and that's it.

Yeah, that's what I got from the site.

What I don't get it why I need a computer to upload presets to a pedal. Can't they just show me where the knobs should be pointing? Or is the Toneprint changing something more basic, more integral about the voicing of the pedal?

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

Well, I can't tell that much. I'm not sure if you can stock several presets, but even if you can't, it's just a cool feature for lazy dude :D

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

See it as your own setting, like the 2290 setting, or tape like, or analouge...and so on!
And only one toneprint at the time!

I am still wondering why they call one of the settings 2290....it does not sound much alike.....

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

From my understanding the Toneprints are based on changes you can't do with the knobs. Their engineer has been going on a "tour" to visit top players with his computer and Toneprint software editing program, and had them finding their favorite settings. I think a lot of the users of these pedals are pressing for TC to release the software..

I am gasing very much for their Hall of Fame reverb...

Huh. I've got amp and effects modellers of various provenances on my computers, and I use them, but I'm not sure I'm eager to put something like that on my pedal board.

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

there're settings in the pedal that cannot be accessed, only using the software which hasn't been released to the public.

Re: TC Electronic Toneprint

I have the Hall of Fame Reverb and Vortex flange pedals. Good sounds so far! I haven't messed with loading the toneprints, but the pedals come with a USB cable to make the computer/pedal connection.

As a side note: the pedals come with 9 volt batteries and when I bought the two pedals I tried them out in the store with the supplied batteries...they died within minutes. The clerk at the store phoned up the TC representative and confirmed that some of the batteries they ship out are pretty worthless.
