Tech 21 Blonde into Keyboard amp?

I just got my Tech 21 Blonde character pedal and love it. Using it into my macbook, but would like to be able to run it through an amp. Headphone jamming is great since I'm a night owl and play mostly at night, but would like the option of playing it through an amp when I'm able. The Power engine 60 is the obvious match, but I'm worried it will be a bit too much volume wise for my living situation. The character pedals seem to get mixed reviews as far as running them through guitar amps goes and clean power with a even frequency seems to be the best bet to let the pedal do its thing. A peavey 20 watt keyboard amp is about half the price of the Power engine 60 and I'm wondering if it might work out well with the pedal?

Keyboard amps are excellent for this purpose. A Keyboard amp for all practical purposes is basically as PA in combo format.

i HATE running guitars thru keyboard amps. the tweeter typically gives the high end an annoying quality you cant dial out.

the power engine has a volume control so wont be any louder than you set it

i had very good results running a dedicated guitar preamp into a keyboard amp ... in fact, i have done it with both piezo-acoustic into a mama-bear and magnetic pickups into a guitar preamp ... to overcome the problem that jeremy correctly described, the tweeter had a separate volume control ... between the onboard EQ, the preamps tone controls, and the amps controls, i was able to find settings that worked for both paths

good luck

I agree with this as a "straight-in" device. But he is talking about basically pre-amping with the tech 21 box. I think it will sound just fine.

Yeah I figured since it isn't your average pedal that it's ability to run through a PA would make it a good match for the Keyboard amp. I'm going try sell a few things I'm not using and it give it a try.

ya it would sound ok but I do not think it would sound as good as IRs unless you cranked the volume to get speaker distortion and real air moving! I want to note that I do not like the speaker emulation of my tech 21 oxford so much, so I use IRs and am at a happy medium with that; the point was for the oxford to stop my gas for a bit and cover for the line6 toneport that died. I gas for axefx/kemper/silentsister tho but the tech 21 should stop my gas for years while the kemper gains a little steam and then Ill get the kemper II muwhahaha :)

live, I use my tv50 so no gas there :firedevil
