Tech 21 SansAmp Classic

Hi, everybody. I'm curious if anyone's had any experience with the Tech 21 SansAmp Classic pedal. It seems like an interesting way to increase sound versatility, with all those little switches and such. I haven't had the chance to play around with one yet, though.

Nevertheless, I'd like to know your opinions on this little analog amp modeler.

Re: Tech 21 SansAmp Classic

Tech 21 has some cool products. I've played with the Sans Amp Tri AC, and it does an incredible job of modelling for such a small box - but you have to plug it into a clean power amp. Darn good in front of a Power Engine 60, but pretty useless in front of a Blues Jr. (too much character of its own).

I would guess the Sans Amp Classic is similar.

Note the footnote that the sound samples are from about 1991... seems like a long time since they worked on this product.

Hope this helps,

Chip

No real need to update this box. It was good when it came out. Some of the dip switch settings are a little honky and phasey sounding, but yes with all those dips you can choke a lot of great sounds out of that thing. They're great and worth the money. The overdrive feels more "right" than most modern modellers.

I have one for two years, good gear. I use it mostly for recording because I can get a lot of different sounds from it without an amp. I only wish the toggle switch is a paddle instead of that tiny little button.

Yeah-- that's one of the first things I noticed on their site.

I think I'll try one out this weekend. Thanks for the info, guys; I really appreciate it.
