Tech Help: Volume Pot Suddenly Stopped Working

Master Volume pot mysteriously stopped working on my Strat.

Opened it up and didn't see any loose solder joints but haven't had the time to really work through it.

The volume is wide open regardless of how it is adjusted. What could cause this? It was working fine the last time I played (Wednesday) but yesterday it mysteriously had stopped.

How should I check? Could the pot have gone bad?

I haven't had any pots go bad, sounds more like a short somewhere. I'd check the wiring and probably replace the pot.

These steps often find the problem; 1- Check with a multimeter that there is continuity from the jack plate to the bridge, this would tell you if an earth cable has gone bad. 2- Check if there is continuity from jack plate to the hot output of the master volume, there shouldnt be! If there is its a short circuit.
