Tele Bridge for HBs

Is a Telecaster style bridge for a HB usually interchangeable with a regular hardtail bridge?

Also what tonal changes/benefits/detractors would result from using a tele style bridge as opposed to a regular style hardtail? Just wondering since it's very rare to say the least to see any non-tele style guitars using that type of bridge. Maybe on a modded Squier '51 but that's about it.

I don't know, maybe?? Worth a shot on a cheap guitar, and would look better than mounting rings IMO

Re: Tele Bridge for HBs

Should screw right down. Just a quick route and 2 more screw holes up top. I prefer to chop n drop the HBs with rings myself. Have fun.

That Tele-Gib never gets old. Top load bridge?

Just figured I should ask the question since I've been pondering putting a Tele-HB bridge on a HH/SSH hardtail non-Tele style guitar when/if ever I finally decide to build one. Since also people seem to attribute some Tele tone to the bridge and how the pickup is mounted to the plate.

Besides with some of the question threads here I figured it would blend in.

Re: Tele Bridge for HBs

only thing i don't like about a tele bridge for humbuckers is the slot for teh humbucker is too close to the saddles for my tone taste

Re: Tele Bridge for HBs

They look more 'rockin' for some reason. Try it so that others can follow your footsteps.

Re: Tele Bridge for HBs

I used a Hipshot hardtail Strat bridge on this Tele, but I had USACG drill it specifically for that bridge.

I've used Gotoh humbucker Tele bridges on a couple guitars, and those sound good, but they add a lot of weight. Stewmac has those.

I tried the thing of cutting down a Tele ashtray bridge a couple times because I noticed that that's what Seymour did on Jeff Beck's Tele. This is how I did it in the garage. Don't cut your fingers off following my method! I know almost nothing about working with metal.

I think I have a pic of Jeff's Tele uploaded somewhere, but I lost the picture showing the bridge. All I can find is this one:

Re: Tele Bridge for HBs

Thanks mm...yeah, I dig the top loader, but it's a PITA to change strings because of the tight saddle angle. I may drill and make it string through. Very nice Pete...dig it. I think I recall a Tele-Gib with a Strat hardtail bridge somwhere...yup, Seymours Tele-Gib got me hooked, it started out as a 'copy' and I found some nice pics to work from...it's morphed into the Black Beauty now, but it did once look like Jeffs...sorta.
