Tele bridge p/u replacement ground question

Hi I just replaced my single coil with a lil 59 in the bridge

I grounded to the volume pot but am getting some buzzing. The original p/u was ground to the connection from the bridge of the guitar - I'm assuming this is because it was a single conductor p/u.

I don't have to ground the new pickup to the bridge as well do I? Can i just ground it to the pot?

Re: Tele bridge p/u replacement ground question

ok now i grounded it to where the neck p/u is grounded to and the buzzing is bad except when I'm touching the control plate

before when I touched the bridge the buzzing would stop but now it's not

Re: Tele bridge p/u replacement ground question

Do I need to go from the bridge to the screw in the bridge p/u cavity to the volume pot or straight from the bridge to the volume pot?

Either should do. (I assume that you are modifying a Fender Am Std Telecaster.) There is a small possibility that the combination of the original cavity screening paint ground connections PLUS your modifications have created a ground loop. Hence, the new buzz.

Re: Tele bridge p/u replacement ground question

It's a 60th anniversary tele. What would
cause the ground loop issue. I still can't seem to get ride of the buzz
