what's up guys?
For the last 2 years, I've had a Hot Lead/Antiquity Neck combo in my Tele. I'm in love with the Antiquity neck, it's fat, warm, and buttery.
The Hot Lead, I'm not so in love with. It's very gritty, bright, and metallic sounding. I realize that the high midsy spank of a Tele lead pickup is natural, and that many players use Teles for their solos since they cut through so well, but this pickup is just too clangy and nasty sounding for me.
Almost all my other guitars are Humbucker equipped, making me used to pulverizing low end, so I'm considering the Quarter Pound Lead to maybe fatten things up, but a buddy of mine says I would be a fool not to match the ANTIQ neck and get an ANTIQ bridge. I'm also adding a 4 way switch to give me the series/paralell option if that helps.....
Anyone who can lend some advice or opinions on these two compared to the Hot Lead would be cool in my book.
Which should I go with?
