Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

I need a recommendation for a tele bridge pick-up.
I have a MIM tele (light ash) with a Fender Texas special in the neck, all the electirical components are high-end, I recently put in a .047 PIO cap and a new PIO treble bleed mod ...and WOW!!!!
I absolutely love the neck pup, warm, woody, and kinda smokey. The problem is the bridge pup isnt very compatible with it. (Bridge pup is a GFS alnico5) it is too bright and can be overpowered by the neck.

I am confused between the ATPL-1, QP, and the JD.
All have thier own merits, I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation based upon the pairing with the neck pick-up ?(which I am not going to change)

Thanks

Er, Fender Texas Special Tele lead pickup, perhaps? ;o) Too obvious.

How about a Fender Nocaster pickup?

Several companies now manufacture Tele lead pickups that emulate a P90 for construction and tone. The British maker, Catswhisker, is one. Various smaller scale US makers offer this sort of design too.

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

well yeah, the texas special lead seems to make sense..
truth is i was sort of leaning towards the JD, but didn't know if the QP might be a better fit, but I do like the idea of using A2 mags...er, I think I do any how??

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

The Duncan Broadcaster is kickass. Don't be turned off by the soundclip on the website, it's very very fat and powerful sounding.

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

i would say the jd would be a great option. the qp is a kinda dark but powerful pup. i have one and use it but the jd is a much more musical and versitle and probably a better match for the texas tele

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

AH HA !!! you said the magical word..."musical" now I am really leaning toward the JD........unless somebody else can help me be more confused...hahaha

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

You might like the Fender Custom Vintage Tele lead PU (as used in the Fender Hot Rod ' 52 Tele). This is definitely a pickup for Rock rather than Country. Through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10, it sounds VERY Keith Richards-y.

I do not know whether this model is available as an aftermarket item.

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

My opinion? Find a 10k Nocaster pickup that Fender made back in the Cunetta years (1995 - 1998). The TS bridge pickup is no match for its own neck pickup. The Twang King is a nice match as is the JD.

Re: Tele bridge to pair with Texas Special neck

Well guys, thanks for all the great input. Its down to the nocaster, broadcaster and JD respectively. I think my plan is try them all over the course of the next six months or so, keep the one I like and sell off the others.
I guess that isnt any different than what I've done with most of my guitars...hahaha

THE QUEST FOR TONE NEVER ENDS !!!!!!!!!

Howdy,

While I'm a happy owner of the '59 and Vintage P-90 from SD, let me recommend DiMarzio's Twang King set. They're fantastic in my Mahogany Tele. Good luck.
