I was thinking of the JB JR...but Duncan doesn't make one for Teles. The Lil 59 would be similar but not quite as thick. Another good pickup though...that and the Hot Rails. Since he's into metal, the Hot Rails might be a better choice than the Lil 59...but it sound slike he's set on a full size bridge humbucker anyway. The JB would be a great choice in a full size humbucker, IMO, and split or in parallel it sounds alot like a stock Tele bridge pickup too. And we know it sounds it great in a Tele because both Jeff Beck and Seymour have made great recordings using it in a Tele. Lew

I modified a Jb Jr and been using for about 4 years.. Its nice but lack of bottoms.. As the pup is ceramic.. It could be a great neck tele pickup combined with a Hot Rail in bridge..

which would be better the h2 or the h2+'s. same for the h3's? what would it mean most for tone? also what about PRS humbuckers, are they any good? gibson?

the scale goes like this:H1 less bass to H3+ the one with more bass.
the tone is very heavy hard rock smooth as butter, never shrill highs.
the problem is its too much of a flame thower for lighter rock and blues(for me).
i had the H3+,same bass as invader but lets sloppy players llke me play better.:laugh2:
the invader has more of that real tone,as the JB.
i prefer duncans.
check out steveO´s samples,he´s got duncan distortions in teles and LP and customs as well.

Re: tele = les paul

I advise strongly against hacking a Tele for a humbucker. Been there, done that, wished I hadn't. Once you do, there's no going back, since a standard tele bridge will not cover an HB route.

There are so many pickups available for Teles, I'm sure you can find one that suits you. Or, since your Strat already has a HB bridge, why not tweak that one to perfection with a better pickup? Then, make the Tele equally good, but different. I think everyone should have one humbuckery-sounding guitar and one singlecoily-sounding guitar.

If you must have an HB Tele, trade it for one that already has them.

Another possibility is ; Buying a Hot Rails Tele and putting a Strat Hot Rails neck (it fits !! and because of the rails there is no pole problem) and modifying the Pickguard.. And putting a 5 way Mega Switch would make this tele (everything axe)..

I did exactly that to one of my Teles!

getting the Mega Switch to fit was a pita... had to put it in backwards... I wired it backwards so it selects properly tho...

Re: tele = les paul

I just remembered, DiMarzio will do a FastTrack2 for Tele (DP383)

It's a Super Distorition that's Tele sized.

Re: tele = les paul

well i have a hotrail in my strat for what its worth it has alot of balls to the walls tone! Very fat soudning, turned my thin sounding strat into a tone monster i vote for the hotrials as well!

Re: tele = les paul

Dimarzio Chopper T and Virtual Tele Hot are a couple worth looking at. Don't cut up that axe, it will be worth very little, esp if you trade or try to sell at some point. I would trade for and Epi LP or an Agile and have the type of axe you are really seeking.
