tele neck p/u advice

I read the forum frequently but don't post much. I could use some advice.

I currently have a Jerry Donahue in the bridge and a vintage rhythm in the neck. I'd like to increase my neck output and sound. Based on what I've read, I'm thinking of either changing out for a Tele hot or quarterpounder. any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks,
Brian

To really get that "bite" that I'm looking for in the neck pickup, should I consider looking at an uncovered pickup? i think lindy fralin has a few like that. I do like the look of the chrome cover, but more interested in getting as close as I can to that strat neck pickup sound.

Re: tele neck p/u advice

personally I think the vintage rhythm is a good match for the JD

my experience with the Hot neck is that it's a little muddy, but it may just be the cap I have in that guitar.

I happen to think the Antiquity is a great neck pickup. The output is similar to the vintage rhythm, but it has a little extra mojo in the tone department.

Definately look into an uncovered neck pickup. I had Zhangliqun wind an uncovered Paul Bunyan Tele rythm pickup for me and it's fantastic.

You might want to contact him about smething similar.

and when you get rid of the vintage rhythm send it my way. I need one to match up with my broadcaster bridge

Fender also makes a twisted tele neck pickup - I don't know where you can get it other than through a custom shop guitar, but it's supposed to be what you're looking for. I think.
