Tele Neck p/u Needed....

Greetings all~ I just picked up a Duncan Custom Shop Broadcaster bridge pup, that runs a little HOT, in the high 8k range, and I'm looking for a good mate to put in the neck...

FWIW, I'm MUCH more interested in that sweet middle position sound than I am in a stand-alone neck sound, but if it's got it, all the better!!
many thanks!!

personally i dont love tele neck pups. i have a strat pup in one tele neck and a firebird pup in the neck of another. the broadcaster is a great pup, i have one myself, but its in a strat.

if i was gonna get an actual tele beck pup, i might go la brea

The La Brea is a great choice, and also the Basilio might be a good choice as well. The neck pickup doesn't need to be too hot to balance, as there is more vibration there.

If you aren't doing a purely vintage correct project, a Seth Lover could work pretty great in the neck

I've gone through so many pick ups over the past two years. One can go crazy finding the right one. One thing I can sy I've gotten pretty good a soldering and installing these things. 59s, Pearly Gates, Antiquities, Seth Lovers, And this was just the Seymour Duncans. ThroBacks, DiMarzios......But I think out of all these the Seth Lovers seemed to be the ones i like the most. Never tried the Bare knuckles.I'm glad...........But the Seth Lovers seem to work for me the best. But I'm holding on to the 59s and Ants. As backups.

The 8k Broadcaster isn’t that hot because like the early p/u it’s probably wound with 43awg wire. Fender’s vintage tele bridge pickups used mostly 42awg. Maybe more useful to compare to pickups like Texas specials wound with 10.5k of 43awg.

It’s another case of resistance not being a measure of output.

If you've exhausted traditional options, I'd look at the Lari Basilio middle or neck. The middle is a 5/2 open cover Tele neck, the neck is a 5/4 covered Tele neck.

I like Fender's Twisted Tele neck. It's more Stratty sounding than a conventional Tele neck but it fits the standard Tele rout & pickguard.
Very nice neck tone and good, balanced middle position with a strong & snappy bridge like the Broadcaster.
