Where is the best place to buy the aster
Parts for a custom build? Body? Neck? Parts and hardware? I know where I'm buying pick ups so basically everything but pickups.

Re: Tele parts

There are plenty of mail order suppliers who can sell you something at a price to suit your pocket. I am reluctant to say that any single outlet is "best" because, for any good experience that I might have had, somebody else here will probably be able to counter it with a bad experience.

Re: Tele parts

As FF said, just too subjective to say "THIS IS THE BEST"! What works for me may not work for you. So, with that disclaimer out of the way, I will share what I like and use. For body's and neck's, USACG does it for me. Excellent service, excellent wood, excellent quality all around. For tuners, control plates, pots, caps, knobs, bridge, saddles, etc....I can't really say. I use what I can get a deal on. Pickups are another highly subjective, personal choice. It's good you already know where you're going there.

As much as I dig USACG, I've also had great success with Warmoth, Mighty Mite, Allparts, Guitar Mill, and several others. Lot's of good stuff out there today and it's good to ask. I'll check back on the thread and learn of new sources. Good luck!

Re: Tele parts

One thing that I will add is, do not assume that parts will fit easily - even when they are of the same make.

Fender MIA, MIJ, MIM, MIK and elsewhere components are not all made to the same measurements. It may prove necessary to remove tiny amounts of paint and/or wood from around the neck pocket to get a good fit.

Recently, I found that a 2012 Fender Classic Player neck fitted perfectly onto a 2008 Classic Player body. A 2003 MIM Standard neck had also fitted perfectly. A 1996 Tex-Mex neck did not. (Deeper heel!)

Re: Tele parts

I usually get bodies from Rutters, necks from Musikraft, and hardware from CE Distribution, or from an Amazon or E-Bay vender with good price/shipping. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be hard to find every bit of hardware you want from the same retailer.
