Tele pickguard question

Is the tele neck pickup bigger or smaller if you compare it with a strat pickup? Can you wider the routing on an already made pickguard or do you need a new pickguard from scratch to fit a strat pickup in the neck position?

Re: Tele pickguard question

The standard Tele pickup is smaller than a Strat pickup. It will fit (barely) in the Tele neck pickup route but will not fit in the pickguard. I have widened them with success; however, I would rather order a new one from Warmoth and have both.

Re: Tele pickguard question

I haven't bought pickguards from them; only pickups. The QC is very inconsistent. Are the pickguards decent?

I haven't tried them myself, but everything else I've gotten from them has been solid and consistantly so, so I see no reason why the pickguards would be any different.

You're one of the lucky ones. Not to hijack the thread, but you'll find a lot of other players with the same viewpoint as mine. My Lil Punchers Tele set was great but the baseplate came off and one of the blades on the bridge pickup was higher than it should have been. Now my mini-humbucker? Not a thing wrong with it...

a squier strat pickup fits in my neck slot of my mity mite tele body, but a tom anderson strat stack does not. I too am looking to strat my tele neck so i can run with no pickgaurd. plan to run a duncan ssl1 or a aps 1 and will post if they fit. try guitar fetish for pickgaurd

the baseplate came off on mine too, but once the screws were in the pickup there was no issue.

The only issue with the baseplate being connected by screws only, is that you could get some squealing. The baseplate really needs to be sealed down in some way.
