Tele Players: Bright with punch: STK-T2b? Or what?

In reference to the STK-T2b (Hot Stack for Tele): In the description on the website it describes the magnet as a ceramic bar but in the tone chart it lists the pick-up as having an Alnico 5 bar. Which magnet is it? Also, im really trying to figure out what im looking for in a tele bridge pickup (or set). I have a Fender Lite (yeah right! The body is a tank!) Ash tele (Maple Neck) that came stock with the Alnico II Pro's in it. Initially I thought that the bridge was really weak and lacked the spanky bright edge I wanted for cruchy heavier rock and decided to throw a Hot Stack in it. I had that in for a while and found that it seemed really compressed and that no frequency really stood out as far as edgeiness was concerned (im not wondering if I could have not had the height adjusted correctly). So I put the AII Pro back in it. I ended up adjusting the AII Pro as high as I could to the strings (without the strings hitting it) and I found an unbelievably bright spanky tone that I was missing. After playing that for a while I think I would like to keep that edginess that I get on the low strings, but add some punch to it without going over the top where as to lose the spanky top end I like. I understand that to get punch some of the top-end has to be sacrificed but I would like to find the sweet mix between the 2 (who wouldnt right?). Anyway, Im trying to figure out what it is about the Alnico II Pro that I like and figure out what it is that I want more of. More turns? But if I do that will I get too dark for the AII magnets? Stronger magnet like an A5? But if I do that will I loose the snap that I get on the lower strings? I listened to the pickups on the "hear" SD page and really like the tone Im hearing out of the Vintage for Broadcaster. Its crunchy in the mids, but still has that trebly bite I want in my tele. But would it be punchy enough? Also, its hard to tell weather or not the low strings have the snap Im after. Or, should I put the Hot Stack back in and mess around with height adjustment and possibly tap the coils for the 10K setting? Do you feel what I have described Im looking for is in the Hot Stack or should I look elsewhere? I appreciate any help you could give me!

Contact Zhangliqun here on the forum and ask about his Paul Bunyan tele lead pickup. It does exactly what you want your tele to do.

Thanks man! I PM'd Zhangliqun about them. Are there any sound clips of them? Does he wind them/sell them? Or is this a mod?

Dimarzio Area Ts.

/thread

Interesting--I havent really done much with the Dimarzio's- I had a Super 3, and then a Norton once in my SG and tried a Super Distortion--both of them seemed to have a common flavor to them in that they were lacking top end and I wasnt a huge fan. Do you have any sound clips of the Area T's?

Zhang winds them himself from scratch or he can rewind an existing pickup for you at that spec. I had him rewind an old MIJ Fender pickup for me and it's a beast. I have it in my MIJ 69 Thinline RI and it rips. Lots of twang on the low end and quite a bit of air inthe top end when clean, but dirty, it really throws down, fattening up slighty without losing snarl or air.
