Tele wiring problem- I need your help!

Hey guys

I just rewired my tele again that I built becuase the middle position on the 3 way (normal tele switch) doesn't do anything.

The guitar has a Hotrails in the bridge and the neck- So its 2 a humbucker guitar.

I used this schmatic http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/support/schematics/tele_bridge_hb.html

and for the neck pup I just did the same thing it showed to do for the bridge in that picture.

The Bridge and Neck pups both work on their own but when I flip the switch to the middle all I get is this little fait noise coming from the amp.

What am I doing wrong?

That schematic doesn't mention what to do with the bare wire so I attached it to the green and soldered them to ground.

That diagram is correct, so its just a matter of double-checking your work. Here's a couple things to watch out for.

Make sure that the neck "hot" wire and the bridge "hot" wire are soldered to the two terminals that extend out a bit farther than the others. Like this:

And make sure that the wire that goes to the volume control is actually soldered to four distinct points. On one side of the switch, it will be the two farthest away from that "finger" in the pic, and on the other side, it will be the two closest.

If you want, I can show you yet another way to wire that switch that works just the same, but I find to be a bit easier.

I just looked at my wiring and its kind of like backwards on switch.

Both of the Hot wires are hooked to the wrong terminals.

I'll rewire again after school tomarrow and let you know how its turns out.

Thanks again Artie :)

That would definitely cause that problem. ;)

Its an easy mistake to make. I'll check back tomorrow, but it sounds like you've got it. :)
