Tele wiring question

Quick question: MIM tele, fitted with tbx tone control, std tele pickups.
I have a mini toggle switch (on-on-on type) I want to wire in to switch from series to parallel. Can someone advise on the wiring? Is there anything I can do with the switch's 3rd position, or shall i just leave it redundant (or use as an 'off' switch)?
Thx!

Re: Tele wiring question

You can use that switch, but a regular DPDT on-on would be better. You can either use Duncans wiring here:

. . . or use my slight mod of that diagram, here:

In my way, you eliminate a "dead" position on your 3-way if you switch to neck or bridge while the switch is in the series mode. You'll have two redundant positions rather than a dead position. Might make a difference on stage. ;)

Re: Tele wiring question

Artie, you are a star.
I have a spare 3-way DPDT on-on-on toggle, which I want to use up, rather than having to go out and buy a regular dpdt on-on. So by your diagram, do i just go ahead and use just one side of the switch?
If it is engaged, will the neck and bridge positions remain unchanged?

Re: Tele wiring question

Unfortunately, at least one of the other positions will be affected. If you wire your Tele using this Duncan wiring diagram, and then use my diagram, you'll only have the series function when the 3-way is in the "bridge only" position. The other two positions, (neck and middle), become neck only.

I'll look through my "archives" and see if there's a better way to do this.
