Tele with a P-94T. A bad move?

I always wanted a single p90 guitar in Black and there were tele body and neck and parts laying around to do some work of fun.
I know P-94 is more likely a “TRUE” single coil than PhatCat that’s little humbuckerish.
Went for P94 wondering it would somehow sound similar to normal tele but with a twist.
Result, not quite.
It is true to single coil pickup sounding but i don’t hear any P90 bite!!
Tried different settings of amps and pedals, it only works well jangly clean or fuzz& crunch in a way that you don’t get the punch from P90s at all.
One 500k volume none else 25.5” scale.
Something went wrong? Or is it what it is?
What there is to do to get it better?

ive never owned a guitar with p94 pups but ive never been thrilled with them in anything ive tried. i like the wind of the bridge phat cat but the stock a2 magnets are not very p90 like in some ways

Fast, cheap, and easy: GFS Mean 90s. Or a Phat Cat with two A5s if you want to get your hands dirty. The GFS Mean 90 is probably GFS's most liked pickup and will do what you want wheras the A5 Phat Cat might do it better, but you'll have to deal with changing the magnets, which is tricky on a Phat Cat.

Well well the Mean 90s! I’m gonna order a set for sure. Really every single one is satisfied with it.. I’m surprised

I’m still trying to figure out what this P94 is for.
I know the clean bit glassy sound. But what else?

By the way any other PU from them that’s AS GOOD IN TONE AND QUALITY?

The Vintage Extra Hot (VEH) receives fairly high praise. It's a Van Halen style bridge humbucker.

I have a set of their Dream 180s In my RG. I probably shouldn’t admit it in this forum, but they are my all-time favorite pickups. Great for all sorts of styles and VERY responsive to pick attack. They also split very well to a pretty realistic sounding single coil.

I think a P90 in the bridge of a Tele would be rockin awesome!

I've never personally tried the P94 but I've only heard lackluster reviews with many preferring the Phat Cat.

I do love the Phat Cat, especially with 2 UOA5 mags. Might be something to consider.

Cool project!
