Ok so this guitar is originally from Rick Kelly`s shop in NYC. Crappy weak, weak, weak, pickups. And overall very budget-y (I think they retail for $400-$500).

Anyways, there are some interesting ideas in this build…Masonite body, string through body. I`s like to change things up a bit though..

Pickups…Already bought 3 new ones.

Bridge.. It`s got a weird ashtray bridge built for a lipstick, crappy thin saddles. I`m thinking a half-ashtray tele bridge, and scrapping the pickup-mounted-on-ashtray thing.

If I buy a new half-ashtray bridge, will the 4 body screws (under the saddles) most-likely match up with the 4 screws I got on there now? Am I better off cutting the existing bridge in half and just getting new (maybe brass) saddles?

Pickguard….My plan is to scrap the wooden pickguard (that is chipping anyways) and put in a larger mint green or off-white pickguard to cover all 3 pickups (since the bridge pup is coming out of the ashtray).

Neck….This neck is weird.. kinda thin, no truss rod, small neck plate with oddly spaced neck bolts (maybe a dano thing?) …This is the last thing I wanna change on it, so I`m open to opinions. I don`t know anything about buying necks and find the whole process kinda intimidating. What specs do I need to know in order to get a new neck for this thing?

Oh oh oh i like the bridge how it is. I would just replace the saddles with some brass ones. Finding a neck would be easy imo. you just need your pocket width and scale length? You could also fix they wood pickguard easily.

Yeah, the bridge is cool. But I would change to big brass saddles...

Sounds like they took a lot of ideas from the original Danos - no truss rod, narrow neck, masonite body... Lipsticks are supposed to be real damn bright and chimy, very clear. Did they miss the mark and go straight to bright and raspy?
