Telecaster Gurus - route standard Tele to Deluxe control cavity?

So I'm building a 75 "Telebration" Deluxe telecaster and already have the maple block inlay neck (score) and am looking to create the unique s/h route pattern with the 2 vol/2 tone pattern as well.

The trouble is that it is hard to track down a said swamp ash body with the desired route, and or at least an s/h body without the cutout for standard controls...but that may not matter.

My question is this: will a 75' Deluxe pickgaurd fit over a standard Tele's control route? I have a router, but would prefer the precise bits be done beforehand. I'm just a hack, I don't mind whatever is underneath the pickgaurd all said and done though.

S/H like this?

If so then you would need the Telecaster Custom pickguard. You can get one from warmoth.com and they give you the option of a fender HB or Gibson HB opening for the neck humbucker.

From warmoth.com that body routed for the set up in the pic above in unfinished swamp ash, and the pickguard is $205 for both. And since they are licensed through Fender you can assured that a fender neck will work or that if you get it routed for a USA Std bridge everything will line up like it should

The answer to your question is yes, the pickguard will cover the control cavity. However, as others have pointed out, there are other options to spare you the time and hassle of chopping up a standard tele.

As others have mentioned, go to the Warmoth site and start building to suit your likes. Warmoth quality is unequaled. They also offer a roasted maple neck that doesn't need any finish and both looks and feels really great.

Warmoth! They kick serious butt when it comes to quality and getting what you're looking for. Like the others have said, it's probably the way to go.
