New member
ive got a yamaha telecaster and the
pick ups are not so good the bridge
is ok but middle and neck are pretty
dull sounding ,whats a a good PU
combination to upgrade to on a
telecaster? im not wanting a high
output Bridge or anything just
nice standard tele tones

mostly for clean and slighty
heavy drive stuff from various
stomp boxes

any feedback would be cool

Re: telecaster pick ups?

assuming your pickup configuration is a Tele bridge pickup, Strat middle pickup, and Tele neck pickup, My favorite setup is as follows.

1. Bridge - Jerry Doncahue Model
2. Alnico II Pro Strat model
3. Neck - DiMarzio Twang King neck model

There will be a whole lot of folks with t least as amny suggestions. They'll all be good ones too...

That's okay. I would still use a JD model in the bridge. A tapped Hot model would be cool too.

As far as the neck model, I like the Twang King (like I said earlier). I also like the Duncan Vintage Stacks.

Re: telecaster pick ups?

I'm building myself a Tele, and am either going to have a JD bridge/Alnico 2 neck and a 4-way switch, or a Tapped Hot Tele set and a 5-way switch.

The JD is one of my favorites; however, the A2Pro Tele neck pickup was way too soft for me...
