I recently (5 minutes ago) bought a Ceramic 8 magnet, I was looking for a regular ceramic for a Custom 5 I am experimenting with but could only fine the 8 version. What should I expect with this magnet? I have used ceramics before, is this similar tone with more output? Thank you.

The ceramic 8 is the "normal" version you see in most pups
However, often, with ceramic pups, the magnet will be slightly thicker than a standard alnico bar magnet (5mm vs. 3.2mm). Do you know whether you bought a normal sized ceramic magnet, or a slightly thicker version? The idea here is, from my understanding, that the thicker magnet rounds off / warms up the sound a bit, but I don't use many ceramics and I haven't tested this myself. Per Clint, a double thick alnico magnet also adds depth and balls, so the logic seems to check out.

Just snapped this photo. The fella on the top is a slightly thicker ceramic bar magnet from a Dimarzio Transition, while the other is a standard thickness alnico.
If I were to stack them, you'd see that the ceramic is not quite a true "double thick" magnet, just... thicker
