Tell me about the Schecter C-1 Blackjack.

I'm currently tired with wrestling with my Jackson PS-4s lack of resonance, punch, sustain, cut, and the floyd rose setup I even need. I've changed the pickups many times and the sound has improved a bit but it still sounds like the same ol' guitar at the end of the day.

Anywhoo, I think it's time I moved on and looked at something different. For playin' heavy things, I'm after a simpler HH setup, fixed bridge with lovely deep resonant tones to boot. I've been considering an Edwards LP but I'm not quite sure if I'll be too comfortable with the gibbo scale length.

The Schecter C-1 Blackjack looks interesting as it has all the features I need with the longer scale. They seem to get positive reviews as a great bang-for-buck axe. I did a search on this forum and you guys, mostly some time ago, seemed to like 'em. I wanna know how you feel about 'em now!

What are you thoughts Blackjacks owners? I know you're out there!

Go play one, the necks and fretwork are as good as it gets on a production guitar IMO, my c-1 almost plays itself.:biglaugh:

Schecter does put out good quality for the dollar....the C-1 Classic and the Corsair semi-hollow I play both have great-playing necks, the C-1 having thicker fret wires which make playing with .011 strings an easy chore.
Of course, one very nice feature is that Schecter uses Seymour Duncan pickups in just about all of their line of guitars, the Blackjack having the '59/JB set. Bonus.

I have a 006 Blackjack which is the same guitar with a slightly different shaped horns.
As the previous poster said, the neck and fretwork were great out of the box ..... nice action and very fast feeling.

I wouldn't necessarliy call it a problem, but I did have to replace the switch. It is not uncommon for mega switches tend to get noisey IMO.

I personally found the 59 in the neck too dark sounding and replaced it with an SH2N Jazz.

Sustain is more than adequate, but not stellar. I have some reservations about what Korean species is called "mahogany". Still, I'll pick up my blackjack before my ES-335!

Awesome value for money.
I personally don't like their thick necks, but otherwise, they play fantastic.

I owned one briefly. It's the only time I ever thought that a JB sounded good. Not good, great! The '59n sucked in that guitar, too dark. (Love it in a bright guitar, though....) I couldn't deal with the 25.5 in. scale and so ditched it and kept the C1+ I also had.

One thing that Schecter has over Ibanez is that Schecters hold their resale value a bit better in case you don't like it.

I haven't had the chance to play a Blackjack (although I'd like to) but the Hellraiser I played was spot on and AFAIK they use the same dimensions and workmanship on all.

As for the neck, strange thing is that although it's on the chubby side (kinda like a Fender Strat) its' shape is such that it FEELS like a shredder neck in terms of playability. IMO their necks (and fretwork) is where they've REALLY gotten it right.

Plus, can't talk for the US but at least here (Greece) the Hellraiser is really moderately priced for what it is (too bad I'm no friend of the EMGs, otherwise I'd have gotten one a long time ago...)

Awesome, I really like chunky strat necks. My Jackson has a really thin neck and it just feels so unnatural and stiff the way I have to bend my fingers around to fret.

It's not as chunky as a Strat (well, at least as MY MiM Std Strat, others have been different) but still nowhere near as a Jackson (ANY Jackson) yet it feels just as fast.
I tell you I've never experienced this with ANY other neck (and I like my necks on the thinner side...)
