Tell Me What You Think About This Remix. I love The Bass.

Re: Tell Me What You Think About This Remix. I love The Bass.

Dude, that bass sound reminds me of mine! If I could only get it recorded as well as you do. Love it. The whole tune hangs together quite well. Have you thought about vocals?

I dig it! its very loud, you must have mixed with compression on the master. that is a great distorted bass tone! I think you can only get that bass tone with your rig or axefx or something. its nice! great intro.

I would want a bit more low end in the bass, maybe double track it so the high one is distorted and low is all low end. cymbals a bit loud for me and compressed a little too much. the guitar solo really shines!

Everything sounds fine after the 1:00 mark.

For the first minute, I would mix the guitars down slightly and the bass guitar up.

F***ing awesome! I love the growl of that bass guitar and the driving rhythm. Very well recorded to boot, great job!

No compression. It's funny cause I don't really consider the tone distorted...lol. I actually did do a double track of the bass with the sub dub setting on the line 6 bass POD. I just kept it at about half the volume of the other bass so it didn't overpower the other.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Actually, I just kept all of the guitars the same level throughout the song.

See, I still don't get the "Distorted/Driven" tone thing, because it's not. At least not to me anyways.

cool man! I need to mess around with double tracking bass on my recordings too. that POD slays! great tune.

I don't think it sounds driven. I think it sounds very clean but heavy.

Re: Tell Me What You Think About This Remix. I love The Bass.

I remember my podfarm, it was awesome but when my toneport interface died line 6 did not allow me to keep the software so now I hate them

I remember adjusting the gain on the bass guitar to achieve tones similar to that but as not as good to my liking, I miss it

Re: Tell Me What You Think About This Remix. I love The Bass.

The bass to me sounds moderately clean. Maybe a little grit, but to me, an overdriven bass tone is more in the realm of Lemmy and Geezer Butler, while there is the stereo chorus clean/distorted blend that Peter Steele had.

This reminds me more of Mike Starr, Duff McKagen, and Jason Newsted. The overall tones aren't all that similar, but the crisp clarity and precision in the tone is there. I liked it. I would use less compression on the track though - I can hear ever so slight distortion on the peaks of the cymbal hits. I'd also want the part where the rest of the instruments come in to jump out at the listener more - give it a bit of room for dynamics (loud is relative - for something to be loud, there has to be something quiet to compare it to). Maybe have the bass intro (just the intro, not the entire bass track) a little quieter - if you think fade ins are cool have it slowly fade in over all 8 measures in the intro - and then BAM everything comes in at the loudest the stereo track can be without clipping. That's what I'd do. Still good though.

Re: Tell Me What You Think About This Remix. I love The Bass.

A note on the drums: Most (if not all) drum samples are normalized, meaning they will easily clip with multiple hits going on, I always have to crank down the drum bus when doing demo's in order to have any room for the rest.

Cool song. It's hard to comment on tones, because I'm on crappy little monitors at work.
Your lead work gets better and better with every song.
