Tempted to swap mags...

Ok, I've read many post here about mag swaps. Now I'm strongly considering an A8 in my JB. It's for my LP and we all know how that can be hit or miss... I love my PG with an a8 in the bridge position. So could any of you guys tell me what mag I should order, specifically? This will be my first mag swap, although I've done much wiring and so on. Thanks!

Re: Tempted to swap mags...

I've heard good things about the JB8 and the Custom8 although I've never tried them. But, I do have an Alternative 8 in my Les Paul and it makes dreams come true. Totally killer. Tight bass, great mid chunk and smooth but cutting highs. Great clean and throw all the gain you want at it.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm going for. I'll try the jb8 and if it doesn't do it I'll see if I can't snag an Alt8. I've been wanting one anyway.

JB8's are a powerful animal. What kind of music are you playing? From a blues/classic rock perspective, an A2 or UOA5 are the best magnets in JB's.

I like hot pickups, but I didn't care for the JB8. It lost the harmonics that I like about the JB with an A5.

I like the sound of that!

Do a search for comments from guys with JB8's, and see if that's what you're after. Loud PU's can get tiring after a while. Output doesn't necessarily have any direct correlation with tone quality.
