Test Driving (Thanks, GJ!)

I test drove a Carvin CT6C yesterday. Awesome axe. Mahogany body/neck, quilted maple cap in red.. Dual 'buckers with a Floyd.

Fat, clear sound. Great neck. Awesome tone. Test drove it through a Carvin Vintage amp. The bro-in-law and I were drooling over it, but we couldn't justify the $$ at the time.

Also test drove a Parker Nitefly Mojo (two, actually). I wanted to play a Fly Mojo, but I cannot find one ANYWHERE. If the Nitefly is any indication, my GAS for the Fly Mojo has just skyrocketed (I've wanted a singlecut Black Cherry Flame model since they came out). Played through a Matchless Lightning. Great amp (besides, it's almost as good as my Celtic Franklin and I needed a "true" comparison). It is likely that I will purchase a Mojo in the near future.

Played several acoustics.

Joe recommended that we visit "Guitar Row" and True Tone Music.

True Tone Music has guitars hanging all the way to the ceiling. :32:

Carvin Guitars has two rooms for private test drives.

The Hollywood GC is the largest GC store I've ever seen. Their Vintage room is larger than most music stores.:eyecrazy: There is another acoustic room in the back (actually, there are FOUR acoustic rooms) with some amazing axes that I was too scared to touch! The cheapest guitars in the room were $4500. There was a $40k guitar in there!

We hit a Vintage guitar shop and a Mesa Boogie store as well. We didn't make it to SamAsh.

That vintage room in the Hollywood GC made me wanna cry there were some freakin awesome pieces in there when I visited it back in 2004 or 2005. Sounds like you had quite the outing, and after all those vintage instruments you want a Parker? meh, to each their own I guess :)

I'm not spending $10k+ on a guitar. No way.

I like the feel of the Parker. I like the neck of the Parker. I like the tone of the Parker. I REALLY like the WEIGHT of the Parker.

I want something with a fatter, thicker, darker tone than the Fly Deluxe. The Fly Mojo fits that bill.

Glad to hear you went on that guitar store tour. Too bad you didn't hit Sam Ash because I think they're the primary Parker dealer on Guitar Row. If you're still in this area, go back.

Another great store to visit is West LA Music, in between Hollywood and Santa Monica.
Also, just south of UCLA is Westwood Music. They stock the best acoustics, boutique amps, and boutique guitars.

I know it's a lot to take in, in one day.

Re: Test Driving (Thanks, GJ!)

According to the Parker site, the only dealer in the area is True Tone. I might have to give SamAsh a call and see if they have anything in stock, though (used or new).

Re: Test Driving (Thanks, GJ!)

I just spoke to the Hollywood SamAsh, and they have 3 used Parkers: 1 acoustic, and 2 Nitefly guitars.:(
