That Good Killing Fields Tone

I like heavy metal. Hell, I love heavy metal. I've listened to ALOT of it. I like to say after all these years, I have a good ear for good heavy tone. This is one of my favorite heavy tones, from the, by far, most underrated Slayer album ever. This isn't my only favorite heavy tone. I have many. But listen to the intro of this song!

What is your favorite heavy tone? Post a vid.

Yeah it's in the amp room, cause its a tone thread. My PV with a PATB-2 straight into my Marshall JCM 900 MK III 2500 with the dials adjusted accordingly, can nail this.

Nice Jolly I love BLS! Ironically, if it wasn't for you and your thread, I wouldn't even know how to post youtube vids. Pure awesome.

Always been a fan of Steve Swanson's heavy tones:

I'll post more as they come to me.

OK, We'll move it up a notch or two, Kataklysm is one of my "new" favorite heavy tones. Puts Six Feet Under six feet under.

i have been digging this tone

Re: That Good Killing Fields Tone

Accept's Gibson/Marshall highgain tone usually comes to mind. I actually like the new guy more than Udo.

And you can't forget about Jerry Cantrell/Alice.

I've always loved this tone.

Certainly not the heaviest ever, but I don't think anyone would vote it off the heavy metal island.

^ +1 for "Take No Prisoners". One of Megadeth's finest moments, and a great guitar tone.

And +1 for Divine Intervention.

:headbang:

Here's another I like:

hard to go past this for filthy muted 5th chords:

Re: That Good Killing Fields Tone

also, big +1 on divine intervention being well underrated and on bostaph-era slayer in general.

if he hadn't played on reign in blood, i doubt people would be so attached to dave lombardo as slayer's drummer...

I'm attached to him because he played on my two favorite Slayer records -- South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss.
