Last night I pulled out the soldering iron and replaced the Custom in the bridge position of my McCarty with a Custom 5. Much better tone with more enriched clarity. There would be times when each string lacked distinction when strumming chords previously.

i've always heard the C5 sounded good in mahogany. what's in the neck?

Good for you man. I, for myself, never even liked the C5 in mahogany... love the cutom though! To each his own, glad it works for you!

Oops. You bought a Custom 5 when you already had a Custom? For future reference, it would have cost you less than ten bucks to switch between the two, and there would have been no soldering involved. Search the forum for magnet swapping. It could save you some time and money in the future.
