THD Univalve head

I saw one of these in the MF cataloge. 15 watts with a built in attenuator. A little rich at $914 but looks interesting. Anybody tried one?

Re: THD Univalve head

Yep, I had one before I got my Orange Rocker 30. Very nice amp. The cleans are decent, nothing to brag about, but the dirty channel is very nice. Its a great studio type amp and with all the tube options available without the need to bias, its pretty damn versatile. I would look for a used one if I were you. I don't know that I'd buy one @ $900 bucks...

Re: THD Univalve head

I played one once & couldn't get it to sound anything less than too grainy.

Re: THD Univalve head

In reading the description of the amp, It mentioned the attitude knob. How cool is that! An amp with attitude, you gotta love it.

Re: THD Univalve head

Very cool amp for someone that likes to experiment. I had one for a while & truly enjoyed it.

Do yourself a favor & comb the boards for a used one with a tube stash....collecting tubes will soon become an expensive hobby!!! :D

Re: THD Univalve head

O.K. after visiting the THD site and listening to downloaded clips, I am thinking this is the ultimate amp for studio, bedroom and small venues. This thing can morph into any tone you want with a simple tube change. No biasing required.

Re: THD Univalve head

check out avatar...they have a deal on them if you buy a cabinet from them as well....I think when I was looking at them, a thd univalve with a 4x10 cab was like $1035 shipped to my door...can't beat that at all man!
