THD Yellow Jackets

I've been looking at class A amps for months, and the final conclusion I've reached is that I can't a) sell my 60w Peavey XXX for enough money to buy a decent Orange/Vox/Dr. Z and 2)I'm not sure I want to sell my amp in the first place. So I've heard about these THD Yellow Jacket tube converters that apparently convert your EL34/6L6 tube amp into a Class A EL84 amp with about half the output wattage.
My question is, do any of ya'll use these, are they a viable replacement for a 'real' class A, and would they bring my amp's volume, which is way too high by the time I can get it to break up, down to more usable stage levels? Here's a link to the manufacturer's site, appreciate input ya'll might have.

Re: THD Yellow Jackets

I've got some & have had good & not so good experiences with them.

Sounded great in a Hiwatt head....definitely knocked the volume down while letting me soak the tubes without having the neighbors ears bleed.

Didn't work so well in a Marshall JCM800....just took the whole vibe away. Sounded good, but just not really like a Marshall.

If you can find some used, they might be worth it for you, but they're kind of pricey new.

Will this substitute for a pure Class "A" amp..........NO!

Sorry.....:dunno:
