the $1500 pots

Re: the $1500 pots

There is a set of double cream '59 PAF's on eBay for $15,000. They don't even have the original nickel covers! :chairfall

Re: the $1500 pots

Like I say every time something like this comes up, if a $1500 set of pots would bump my vintage LP's value up from $50k to $60k (just an example) I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Re: the $1500 pots

Exactly... that's a insane price. But as it can bump a vintage LP up 10.000 $, even more. It's a fairly correct price if they are used "right".

But if someone would buy them to upgrade their Murphy Aged R9 for that vintage vibe! .... :smack:

Re: the $1500 pots

I used to buy complete Gibby harnesses for 20-30 bucks all day long back in the 80's when the metal guys wanted EMG's...most of my Gibsons have 50's-60's harnesses; not for sale.

"You can indeed buy the correct pots, but it will never be as good as getting a wiring
harnees that is completely stock."
Because we all know that stock means quality.

No one said it necessarily means quality, but in the vintage market "all original" means "more valuable".

Re: the $1500 pots

That's actually a pretty fair price, I'd say. No different than paying $2200 for a single ply 50s Strat pickguard or $400 for a 70s Fender neck. If you need that particular item to bring a vintage git just that much closer to original, it's worth it....and in the case of 59 Lesters, the current value of those guitars automatically drives the price up on the individual pieces into the stratosphere. I've got a couple of 59 Centralab pots I'd love to trade for 57s.
