The Am. Deluxe v neck Strat is going back...

Re: The Am. Deluxe v neck Strat is going back...

I love my C-shaped modern American Tele necks (similar to the HWY1 necks), but I'm not lettgin my Am Deluxe V-neck go -- it's the best playing and best sounding Strat I've ever touched. BTW, I got this V-neck Strat in exchange for one of the new American Ash Teles. That was a nice looking and beautiful sounding Tele, but the vintage width U-shape neck was causing significant pain in my left thumb. It just wasn't playable for me. I've had no problems with any of my C-necks or this V-neck Strat, so I guess my Achilles heel is the U-neck. It's all in the hands, so to speak...
Ya live and learn.

Check out the used market for some G&L Legacys or S-500, the best necks money can buy, only problem is they are hand shaped so everyone is different. New they arent too bad either. Killer killer guitars, my personal fav strat style, great stock pups to boot

If you are used to the fatter LP necks you may NEVER like a strat neck. I cut my teeth on strat necks. I think the reason you like the tele, is because it is probably more similar to your LP. Tele neck, or least ones that I have tried and owned remind me of the 30-60k over 1960 l.p. neck. that metal tele I showed you has a "vintage styled tele neck, and it is pretty close to being as fat as my 59RI neck. It is definately fatter than my 58RI, and LP studio neck.

When I play my strats, I need to warm up and stretch my hands a lot if I am out of practice (like now), or I get cramps between my index finger and thumb. With fatter necks that just doesn't happen. One can try wearing the strat higher or lower on the strap, or experiment with the way yo hold the neck. I find once I am warmed/loosened up I tend to play a little "looser" of more "hendrixesque" than I do on my LPs. Mostly because I will play in the "coke bottle" position and utilize the thumb wrapover more than I do on a LP.
