I'm am considering dropping a Duncan Broadcaster in the bridge of my tele. Any of you out there have expirience with this pickup and would you recommend it?

Hey Bellicose; Hopefully Lew will jump in here eventually,
but here's a little something to chew on until, (and if), he does.

Hold down the SHIFT key, and click this link to open in a new window.
Scroll all the way to the bottom, and Lew has a short blurb on Broadcasters.

Re: The Broadcaster

bellicose,
after using the Broadcaster a while in my ash strat, I think it's a little bright in there, but to be honest, after talking with Lew, I'm going to just change the cap from .05 to a .02 Orange Drop, and see what that does ... after all, the early teles had A5 pups just like the Broadcaster, and that's what I was aiming for..

I like the fullness and sustain of the Broadcaster, though

you can hear a few short clips of mine here:

Re: The Broadcaster

Thanks for the mention guys! I like the Duncan Broadcaster pickup, tho the one I've used and kept all these years is an older one that measures 8.2K. The newer ones are around 7.5K or so...I forget. That probably makes them brighter than mine, less compressed when playing with an overdriven tone...and probably brighter, as Curly mentioned. I think they're one of the classic Tele lead pickups. A5 magnets for plenty of bass with a nice snappy bark to the mids and a smooth but glassy twang on top that's not overbearing...the final tone depends on the guitar you put them in too, of course.

It's been awhile since I had a Broadcaster pickup in my Tele, but I believe I would prefer it to the a3 Fender NoCaster pickup I've been auditioning this week, and which seems to me to be a little brighter and have a little less bass and maybe less mids.

I'll say this: I'm keeping my Broadacster pickup and selling the brand new NoCaster set in the Forum Trading Post!
