The CS tele ala strat neck pickup...

At least thats what I've heard it called. I want the strat neck tone for my tele but I don't want to alter the body/pickguard for a regular strat pickup. I heard the CS has a tele pickup that looks like a tele pickup but sounds/is a strat pickup. I'm guessing its gonna be super expensive since its from the CS, anyone know how much? or a cheaper alternative to get the strat neck tone in my tele??

it is the LAST tradition al tele neck pickup you will ever need or want! Most of the time I HATE trad tele neck pups...I love this one!!!

I really like it. It's bright and strong like a Strat pickup, even though it is under a nickel cover.

Most stock Tele neck pickups sound muffled to me, but sound good when combined with the bridge pickup...that's my favorite setting for clean rythym on a Tele. So I've learned I'll lose that tone if I go to hot with the neck pickup on a Tele. The Tele ala Strat is stronger and brighter than stock, but still gets that clean, chimey tone I like when I combine it with a strong but still vintage output Tele bridge pickup.

thanks for that link, I'd like to give my money to duncan and I bet it is a better pickup but I don't think I can pull $130 for a pickup. thats more than half the price I payed for the guitar!! haha. But I will be sure to buy my bridge PU from duncan, probably a JD or something... thanks!!!

I think the Fralin Blues Special at $80. is the equal of the Tele ala Strat pickup, but one way Lindy achieves this is by not using a nickel cover on it. If you want a pickup with a vintage Strat neck pickup tone AND with the nickel cover, the CS Tele ala Strat is the one to get.

Have you compared the Tele ala Strat to a stock Duncan Tele Hot neck pickup? I have a few that just came in with some Duncan Tapped Tele Hot bridge pickups.

Curly and I were wondering if these might be the poor man's answer to the Custom Shop Tele ala Strat neck pickup and Custom Shop Tapped Tele Hot bridge pickups MJ wound for us.

I have not tried that one...I too have a Tapped Tele lead pup, but really mine is not wound as hot as yours or Curlys so the neck pup I have is perfect...Im not eveen 100% sure it is the Tele ala Strat... just know that MJ would it to blend with the tapped bridge pup and it sounds better that anyother Tele neck pickup I have ever heard!
