I have a fender lone star strat i bought recently to have a "different" axe :laugh2:
Love lesters but i wanted to get some "outside" les paul tones
anyway i traded a guy here my super 3 for his custom and it rocks!
has all the power, clarity,note seperation,tightness,etc i was after
Now here is my question,
I bought a used custom a while back tried it in my les paul and it sounded NOTHING like this custom does???
is it possible that the used one i had bought then(now sold) was a magnet swap version?
that the seller(Ebay) put in a II or 5 in a SH-5 then pawned it off as a ceramic custom?
well that was good but this ceramic one kills it!

It could be that a magnet was swapped. But it also could be that it just sounds different in another guitar. And do you still use the same amps and stuff? That could make a difference. Another big thing is that maybe your ideal tone has changed or maybe you got more experienced with different tones and it just sounds better now than it did before because of that.

Yes i understand that originally i tried it in a Lester but it really sounded weaker in output and not much mids(alnico 5 swap?)
in the lone star which is not as powerful a axe as a LP this new custom ROARS :)

I think it's just the different guitars. It's amazing but it makes a HUGE difference. I have a Screamin' Demon that I had originally put in a Peavey Basswood Strat - Clone, and it sounded great - VERY chunky. Then I tried the same pickup in a Squier Strat with a thin Alder body. It sounded weak, very low output. Like it could be cool, but as if I had the volume turned down and it wasn't driving the output. So I switched my POD setting to boost the gain even farther, and the pickup started screaming.

What kind of sounds can you gte out of it?? Im looking for new pups i nmy strat... can you get good classic rock tones as well as decent metal tones?? Is it clear?? Does it scream (when playing lead) ? does it have a nice "chunk" to it?

it has chunk,scream and anything else you can think of :saeek:
it will do any style of music from EVH to the heaviest metal.
downtuned stuff is amazing with the custom since it has so much roar and clarity :dance:

Holy ****!!! I need to look into this pickup!!!! Would it be possible to post some clips..with varying gain??? and is it just the Duncan Custom...or one of the other customs?

Dead skin, it would have to be a JBjr cuase this is the guitar the custom is in :laugh2:

Ya, I was thinking bout the '59 but since I do play a good amount of metal I was kinda looking for a '59 with more output.. and this looks good my friend.. now I'm really thinking bout this one !!!

For absolute roar, I love the sound of the Custom in my Fake LP through a Mesa model.

If I wasgoing to put this in astrat...should I got with 250 or 500k pots?

I use a 1 meg to really open up the custom,my two singles are wired to a 250K though :)
the custom is not wired to ANY tone pot(s) just the singles
so the top control on my lone star is a master volume(1 meg) for the custom and the next down is a 250K volume for the two singles and bottom control is the tone pot for the singles

Yes..yes he did :) Some guy in another forum put it in some thread and it like "this could be my new sig"...I liked it so I took it !! :laugh2:

I really love the guys playing but he should just keep his mouth shut and play
he always gets into trouble every time he opens his mouth! LOL!!
