Hi guys,

a) Whats the Difference in the Circuitry between the Overdrive/distortion channel of Solid State Amps and Effect Pedals Overdrive /Distortion circuits,

I read somewhere that Solid State Amps Overdrive/Distortion uses some kind of Cascading circuit which increase and increase the signal till it distorts,

b) Are Overdrive/Dis pedals essentially, are the Overdrive/distortion channel Circuits of Solid State Amps ?

Thanks

Sometimes, there is no difference at all. e.g. The Marshall Jackhammer pedal and the pre-amp in the Lead Channel on some Valvestate amplifiers is the same.

All analogue overdrive is achieved by cascading gain stages - be they thermionic triodes or integrated circuits.
