I'm listening to it for the first time...

How have I not discovered this before????

What an album!

Re: The Division Bell

Well the live shows from delicate sound, and the Division bell where outstanding stuff.....
Only thing that sounded as good back then was Peter Gabriel live....uhu!
Still do not like EMGs....

Re: The Division Bell

I think you are referring to "Pulse" as the live show.

Delicate Sound of Thunder was "Momentary Lapse of Reason"

I agree - EMG's just have not worked for me. ;-) but they worked for DG. My mind can be changed.

Re: The Division Bell

Beck, Hendrix, Gilmour, Knopfler, Rea, and Rory......those are the strat players in my mind......
Was never a huge SRV fan, Clapton never intrested me much, honourary member is the late Jeff Healey.....he could make a strat scream and behave like a wild beast!

While Beck may be the better pure player, everything comes together around Clapton. he is the better musician ..he has the miost skilled and articulate licks. Noones licks are more tastefull or soulfull. The other players could be considered as sort of jeff Beck like- truly extremly skilled, but like the great blues genuises, its all about the mojo, and that said..Clapton is GOD!

Re: The Division Bell

The album is incredibly underrated! i just happened to be listening to it as i saw this. (dead serious its the chorus of High Hopes right now.)

but Gilmour-era Pink Floyd is my favorite!!! hes not using all EMG either, i think he used an ssl1 in the bridge? if i remember correctly. and i think fender 50's or 60's pickups in the middle and neck on the black strat.

Billy F. Gibbons is better.

Re: The Division Bell

I liked the Floyd stuff from that time frame, the Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason rank up there for me for a lot of reasons...ever notice the production on those is outstanding?

Re: The Division Bell

Want to hear Gilmour at possibly at his finest?? pick up the Live at Gdan'sk cd(dvd). Pick up the 3 cd (dvd)version if you have a surround system. also this was Richard Wright's last performance ...he passed about 10 days after the album was released.

Re: The Division Bell

live in Gdan'sk is great, saw it a little bit ago.. also i own Night at the royal albert hall and it is probably just as good as the gdan'sk dvd. also has bits of it in the bonus material.

Re: The Division Bell

I'm not much of a fan of the Gdansk performance, more a fan of Remember That Night.

Re: The Division Bell

he is the better musician
Since when????
That former drug infected addict is no god....no bloody one is!
He is a better singer than player....and licks is just licks.....and if I wanted some blues....I know alot of more rootsy guys that has more to offer.
