EDIT: So the vid is no longer available, and he has retracted what he said.

Locking thread because the information has changed.

:dunno:

So I've just heard a statement by Dave Friedman that Marshall has stopped all UK production... :scratchch

Well there goes all those killer craigslist deals on Marshall gear,,,,which I never take advantage of anyways,,,,,,,although it's not for lack of want.
I mean sure there's so much of it that deals will still be there if one is a good negotiator, but I'd bet for sure the asking prices will rise.

Re: The End Of Marshall

Well, I guess it is good news for anyone selling a UK Marshall, but not good for rock n roll. The guitar (and tube amp) landscape has changed a lot in the last 20 years.

Re: The End Of Marshall

Are their UK-built heads any good? As much as I like the sound of my 1960A, if you look inside, it honestly does not look very well built.

I always thought that was part of the sound. If it were built like a Mesa, it wouldn’t sound the same.

Re: The End Of Marshall

Guess I better get my butt in gear go & procure myself one of those Marshall Cass 5's that I've been lusting after for the past several years before they double in price? I've been one click away from owning either a Class 5 head or 1X10 combo at least a dozen times over the past 5-6 years but there has always been something else that I either wanted just a little more, a better deal on a different product, or that I thought would be a more suitable amp for what I'd be using it for so it never come to fruition...

The funny thing is in my current situation a Class 5 head or 1X10 combination amp pushing through my Vintage-30 1X12 would be almost perfect for what & where I play 99% of the time? REGRETS!!!

Oh well, they turn up on the used market pretty regularly & hopefully their prices won't jump too high before the beginning of 2018. Once I have the holidays behind me (& let's not forget taxes) I'll have a little more disposable income & hopefully I can get my hands on one then!!!

Re: The End Of Marshall

So, what does this mean. Just that now everything Marshall will be made in China? Wasn't most of it being made in China already?

Re: The End Of Marshall

DSL range is built in Vietnam.

Re: The End Of Marshall

yeah, i dont see this as a big change other than it sucks to lose some of the mystique of the brand. hopefully the price will drop on the stuff that used to be made in the uk

Re: The End Of Marshall

I do hope that they've decided to at least keep the Marshall factory museum opened in the U.K.! There's a lot of history in that building....

Re: The End Of Marshall

Whatever the details are, it's not a good thing - both on a micro (the brand itself) and macro (economy) level.

Plus, I prefer my Marshalls with tea and scones.

God Save The Queen & Marshall!

"Better it is to live one day seeing the rise and fall of things than to live a hundred years without ever seeing the rise and fall of things"buddha

Re: The End Of Marshall

I don't think the country of origin matters much. There are plenty of quality products made overseas. If Marshall starts to cheapen the design and components of the amps there could be big problems. As long as the design, quality control and component standards stay the same or get better they will be fine.

Re: The End Of Marshall

The price will go up. The UK made Marshalls will become the Klon Centaurs of the amp world (along with the Dumble)... especially the vintage ones.

Re: The End Of Marshall

Outsourcing usually winds up being a bad thing. Maybe not initially, but give it time.

Ever called your typical customer support in the US the last 10 years?

Cheap business moves = cheap quality.

Re: The End Of Marshall

It's not true. Dave Friedman has posted an apology on another forum. He was just speculating about what might happen in the future I guess, but it got perceived differently.

Re: The End Of Marshall

The topic on the other forum, which contained the apology post, has been removed as well. I take this, that it was all a mistake.
