The Extended Range Guitar Appreciation Thread

So, I've played guitar for 16 plus years now, and tried many different styles and instruments. But up until a year ago i have never had as much fun as I have with my 8 string. I know, a lot of people just use it to chug and bring the br00tz but I dig everything from metal to jazz to even weird noises and whatnot that I can make with it. But anyway, this for 7, 8, baritone, whatever else you can think of. I just like the look of an 8 string to be honest.

In before YOU DUNT NED SO MEENY STRAAANGSZ

This is my modded RG8:

Thats pretty awesome. I love the crazy shapes. I want an Iceman 8 something fierce.

And I know, I deal with it all the time. But to be honest, lately 6 strings feel like toys afte I play my 8. Plus, I can play everything a 6 string can. . .and more with one guitar.

I don't enjoy the wide necks they make me feel fat and slow haha.So i tend to prefer an extended range towards the bridge. But both are awesome in there own way

This is a healthy compromise.

Kramersteen, that body reminds me of a cross tween a Carvin v220 and the X220

Re: The Extended Range Guitar Appreciation Thread

This vid is what made me want to own a 7 stringer now. Sure you can chug away like meshugga but what George does with it is phenomenal.

Re: The Extended Range Guitar Appreciation Thread

I really dig the fanned fret 8's. I always loved doing scales in my youth and it looks like a lot of fun. Now days though I barely have time for my 6 strings.

this one get's me gassing every time

If it were mine, I'd either go with a natural clear, or maybe a reddish stain. Either way, I'd want to show off those strips of wood.

How do you like that Jackson? I've been considering the Jackson Soloist 7 string, Schecter Hellraiser, and the Schecter Loomis model. I just cant make my mind up.
