The Flying V Groove With Stock 500T/496R Pickups

This is a little riff I came up with and recorded it using my Gibson Flying V. I tried to keep it pretty simple as you can tell. The guitar has the stock 500T/496R pickup combination in it and it looks just like this one here:

This guitar is the best I've ever heard the 500T/496R combo sound in. The 500T is a little compressed (which has a bit to do with my distortion level) for my liking in the chords of the song. However, I do like the way it sounds in the single notes of the main riff. I threw in a wah just for the heck of it. I figured I'd record something with some Gibson pickups just for the hell of it. I haven't done many recordings with them....since not many of my Gibsons even still have the stock pickups in them.....lol. Anyways, I hope ya dig it...enjoy!!

Dude, you know I use a Boss DR-770 that I play in real time. I'm too stoned/drunk (like you) to figure out how to program it. Nazareth...huh? I never listened to them really. Unless that's a subliminal message of you calling me a S.O.B......lmao

Agreed...the 500T/496R sound just fine in the Vs...and are more versatile than one would think. I got some great blues tones out of them.

excellent clip as always Jolly....If you drop the pickup pretty low you lose a good amount of that compression in the 500T. Just get the gain back with your amp/modeller

man is your talent for killer riff/song writing going 100% wasted as you sit at home and rock out alone/waste away drinking lol. you seriously need a band. your stuff has "sign me now, put it on the radio, let's start the tour" all over it! all you need is the right singer with some power to their voice!

sounds pretty badass. ive been really tempted to buy that very same V at the local guitar store. but its got a few chips in it i really dont feel like putting up with. plays great though.
